Hi, I’m Meaghan Trahan
A Contemporary painter attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette whose studio practice explores the complexities of texture and surface. I work primarily in acrylic, incorporating modeling paste, crackle paste, and other textural materials to create layered, fragmented surfaces. I use texture, distortion, layering, and abstraction to investigate how identity is constructed, remembered, and experienced. The physical qualities of paint and surface are central to the work, allowing images to conceal and reveal aspects of the subject at once. My current practice emphasizes material experimentation, expressive mark-making, and the relationship between surface, identity, and perception.
